Emotional Check-In
Surrogacy isn’t just appointments, ultrasounds, and contracts- it’s also an emotional rollercoaster. Excitement, doubt, pride, exhaustion…you might feel all of it in a single day. And that’s completely normal.
You don’t have to “tough it out.” Whether you’re struggling with attachment, fear, or even just exhaustion, we’re here to listen, not judge. Nascency has a deep bench of professionals who have worked in this space as well as experienced it themselves.
Why Emotional Health Matters
Between hormones, medications, and the intensity of IVF, emotions can get amplified. Add in the fact that you’re carrying a baby for someone else, and things get layered. Taking care of your emotional health isn’t a “nice-to-have”- it’s essential.
What Surrogates Often Feel
- Questions about IP connection: “What if we’re not on the same page?”
- Doubt: “What if I can’t handle it all?”
- Isolation: “No one in my life really gets this.”
- Pride: “I’m doing something really amazing”
All of these feelings are valid and yes, they can exist side by side.
How to Take Care of Yourself Emotionally

- Talk it out. Nascency provides surrogates with professional emotional care from before embryo transfer through postpartum recovery. This includes several 1-1 sessions with a licensed professional counselor and a monthly virtual support group with fellow GCs going through the same process.
- Give yourself rest. Your body and mind need breaks, just like your appointments.
- Set boundaries. Not every comment from friends or family deserves a response.
Bottom Line
Your emotional wellness matters just as much as your physical health. You’re not alone in this journey, and you don’t have to “tough it out.” At Nascency, we’re here for the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
