Your Role in a Surrogacy Journey: Communication, Commitment, and Responsibility
At Nascency, we believe that every surrogacy journey is built on trust, respect, and collaboration. As a surrogate, you’re doing something extraordinary—helping intended parents build the family they’ve been hoping for. That journey begins long before delivery and calls for clear communication, personal responsibility, and consistent commitment from day one.
Surrogacy is a deeply collaborative process. Your role goes far beyond carrying a pregnancy—you’re also responsible for maintaining open, timely communication, attending all scheduled medical appointments, and staying responsive to the needs of the intended parents, your care team, and Nascency.
This guide was created to show just how vital your role is—and to walk you through how thoughtful communication and reliable scheduling help ensure a smooth, respectful, and successful experience for everyone involved.
Why Your Commitment Matters
Commitment
When you commit to being a surrogate, you’re offering your time, body, and heart to help someone else grow their family. Your reliability—in attending appointments, following medical protocols, and maintaining healthy habits— ensures that the journey stays on track.
Communication
Open, timely communication builds trust between you, the intended parents, your agency, and your medical team. Whether you’re sharing how you’re feeling after a transfer or updating everyone after an OB visit, your communication helps everyone stay informed, prepared, and connected.
Responsibility
From staying on top of medication schedules to showing up for prenatal appointments and relaying important health updates—you’re playing a critical role in the health and success of this pregnancy. Your responsibility also includes keeping Nascency and the intended parents updated, so everyone can make informed decisions together.
A Note About Communication & Trust
We understand that life can be busy, especially while you’re going through something as significant as a surrogacy journey. Still, when communication is delayed or updates go unshared, it can unintentionally slow down the process— whether it’s finalizing legal paperwork, scheduling medical visits, or coordinating with intended parents.
Even more importantly, communication is the foundation of trust. Intended parents are often navigating this journey with deep emotion and limited control. When you’re responsive, transparent, and reliable, it reassures them that their future child is in caring, capable hands.
We’re here to support you in this commitment—and we thank you for the care, respect, and professionalism you bring to each part of the journey.
You Are Not Alone
We’re here to guide and support you at every step. You’re not just carrying a pregnancy—you’re carrying someone’s dream. Your communication and reliability are what make this journey successful, meaningful, and safe for everyone involved.
