Why we're gathering

Surrogacy is being challenged. The people who’ve lived it should help shape what comes next.

Around the world, surrogacy is increasingly being challenged, restricted, and misunderstood. In countries like Italy, families created through surrogacy now face growing legal and political opposition. Here in the U.S., we’ve seen troubling rhetoric too — including the Florida Attorney General comparing surrogacy to slavery.

We believe the people who have actually lived surrogacy should help shape the conversation. This gathering brings together surrogates, parents through surrogacy, clinicians, and advocates who care deeply about protecting ethical surrogacy and making sure real experiences are heard.

We’ll share these stories publicly — through Nascency Voices and other advocacy efforts — so future conversations are informed by lived experience, not assumptions.

Why we do this

Nascency began with a Share Your Story campaign.

Our first Share Your Story campaign launched in 2024. 500+ surrogates responded, and we sat down for 200+ in-depth interviews. Those conversations built the foundation for key parts of our surrogacy and perinatal support program — the way we match, the way we prepare carriers, the way we show up after delivery.

But this work goes beyond our own programs. We collect and share these stories to educate the public, advocate for continued access to ethical surrogacy, and support the surrogates and intended families who come next. When real experiences are heard, the public conversation becomes more accurate — and more humane.

It’s how we live our mission and vision: more complete families, and a better surrogacy experience for everyone it touches.
